10 Mar ESC GA – The future of the Society is in your hands.
Letter from the President

Mary Short
Dear Colleague,
The European Society of Contraception and Reproductive health is a membership organisation – with the Executive committee and the Board working on your behalf. The General Assembly therefore is the most important date in our calendar. Many of us come from countries with differing models of care and rights-based programmes. Accessibility, availability and affordability of differing forms of contraception vary from country to country while others are involved in research and development -looking to the future of contraception- none of these are mutually exclusive—we all need each other. This is your opportunity to have your voice heard, as every opinion counts.
Over the preceding congresses the Society has witnessed a shift in education delivery and training models as well as a changing sponsorship market. The climate for hosting congresses is challenging – we need to develop new and innovative ways of reaching out to each other using modern technology and communication platforms. That said, we should not underestimate the sense of collegiality a Congress affords us – We reconnect with people, make new contacts, develop ideas and support each other in our work. On your behalf, the Executive Committee, will be proposing motions, ideas, which will, we anticipate, make the ESC more interactive and at the same time cost effective.
I would encourage you all to make time in your diary to attend the General Assembly – without you – it will be difficult to initiate change. The future of the Society is in your hands.
Mary Short, ESC President
