26 Sep Manifesto World Contraception Day 2018
The Spanish Society of Contraception produced a ‘Manifest’ at the occasion of World Contraception Day 2018: “Teenager: it’s your life, but our future”. The alarming increase in sexually transmitted diseases (gonorrhea, syphilis, AIDS, chlamydia, HIV, etc.), the persistence of the same rates of voluntary termination of pregnancy in women under 19 years of age, with a rate of 8.97 per thousand women in 2016 (9.38 in 2015 and 9.92 in 2014), as well as inequality in access to effective contraception by place of residence are sufficient reasons for the Spanish Contraception Foundation to call for greater access to sexual and reproductive health education and the most effective contraceptives for teens on the World Contraception Day this year.
