25 Dec Season’s Greetings
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the European Society of Contraception I wish you and your loved ones good health in 2022.
It has been a challenging year for us as private individuals, as health care professionals and for Society as a whole.
Many of you have fallen ill, or lost family members to Covid – none of this is easy and takes its toll on our collective wellbeing.
The ESC has faced many challenges in 2021. The cancellation of the Congress in Dublin in 2020 was our first challenge. The Education committee stepped up and ran a series of very successful webinars throughout the year and enabled a more active engagement with the membership. These webinars, while free to members were supported by unrestricted grants from pharmaceutical companies—so a big thank you for the level of commitment and support for the Society.
The media committee have also been very active, committed to promoting the Society and encouraging active member participation through “Docmatters”
After more than 30 years the rules and statutes of the society have reviewed and undated to reflect the diversity of the membership and to keep apace of change—once ratified these will be available on the website.
The 16th Congress of the ESC will be held in Ghent from Wed, May 25, 2022 – Sat, May 28, 2022
The theme – “Challenging times—are we ready?”—Certainly the Congress Scientific and organising Committee are as regardless of Covid they plan to make this happen—and so have chosen an exciting and innovative hybrid programme.
Finally, a big thank you to the Peter, Ria and Nancy -in the Secretariat –the Executive Committee and the Board without which none of this would be possible.
Stay safe and well—We will see you all in Ghent—in person or virtually.
Mary Short
President of ESC
